Herbie: Fully Loaded

“Hey Linda,” my husband Charlie called to me last night from the living room. “Yeah?” I responded, poking my head out from the laundry room. “Herbstreit just predicted that the Buckeyes are going to beat OU in the National Championship,” he informed me. Fast-forward to this morning, where one of our coffeehouse regulars was picking up the usual sugar-free frozen caramel latte for his wife: “Did you hear Herbstreit’s predictions last night?” he asked me. “Of course,” I responded, knowing this guy is a big OU fan. “We’ll see about your Buckeyes, won’t we,” he continued, obviously not buying into the hype. Luckily, he still gave me a good tip!

Seems like there are a lot of expectations on the Buckeyes this year, or more precisely, on Terrelle Pryor’s ability to lead the team to Glendale. The Buckeyes have been questioned about every possible aspect: playing Wisconsin and Iowa on the road, playing Miami, and Pryor’s maturity, but all the analysts seem to be coming to the same conclusion: the Buckeyes are for real. I can’t help but wonder…

Will the Buckeyes live up to the Loaded Predictions?

All I can say is, I hope so! It seems as though we have the cards stacked in our favor. The Championship appears to be ours to lose. It’s hard not to get cocky. Even our own TBDBITL John agrees with Herbie and foresees the Buckeyes winning it all. As for me? Well, I’ve been telling my husband that we are going all way since the end of the Rose Bowl. Most of the Buckeyes have returned for another season in the ‘Shoe, led by good old #2. As Herbie said, Tressel is ready to turn the offense over to Pryor and make some plays happen this year.

We can all tune in Thursday night and get our first look at the 2010 Buckeye squad. Against Marshall, I’ll be looking for a solid defense and maybe a few surprises from the offense. Marshall should prove to be a decent opponent, and will preview what our season will hold. Should be a good season from the Bucks!

Go Bucks! O-H…

P.S. It will also be another season of Fantasy domination by yours truly, as Team Sweatervest made it to the Championship last year, but didn’t seal the deal. My other league includes not only TBDBITL John but also your Web Master extraordinaire Lori. Only time will tell which Memphis Buckeye (if any!) is the best…
