THE TRADITION CONTINUES
Saturday was a great day in the Horseshoe in many ways. Of course there
was the shutout of the Akron Zips pitched by our scarlet and gray heroes.
No need to further dissect that one here, you can read that stuff elsewhere.
I'm writing about Tradition here. Buckeye Tradition. Saturday
marked the 75th anniversary of the most memorable tradition in all of college
sports - the incomparable Script
I am pleased to report that several other Buckeye traditions are alive and well
under coach Luke Fickell. Coach wants to
maintain a great relationship with the marching band - a must in my book as you
would expect. He brought the team through St. John Arena during skull
session and the crowd roared "Luuuuuuuuuke"
in approval as he took the microphone to address the gathered throng. He
promised the team would be Men of Action; Luke (remember the 42-0 score)
knows what he is talking about in that regard. Luke also led the team on
the field to the New Era Fanfare as his predecessor did and he took
the victorious Buckeyes to South stands for the singing of Carmen Ohio at
the end of the game.
It was indeed great to be on the field again and see many of my TBDBITL
friends. I was looking forward to it more than I realized after a long
and difficult off season. Someone even said it was a bit hot last
Saturday. But I didn't notice the heat much. Too busy
with the many traditions that make up a Buckeye Saturday in Ohio Stadium I
guess.
Go Bucks! Yea
