56 seconds...That's all it took for the Buckeyes to realize that visions of 1998 were looming. OSU was up 24-0 when, all of a sudden, Todd Boeckman threw a pick six and then fumbled the ball on the next possession that led to a fumble recovery for a TD for the Spartans. "Beanie" Wells gave us a scare on the next possession when he fumbled the handoff from Boeckman. Luckily, he recovered the ball on the 13 yard line and OSU escaped disaster on what has already been a wild roller coaster college football season. It might have been homecoming, but give credit to Michigan State for not waiving the white flag when they were in a deep hole.

Thanks to the 57 of you who came out to Gills on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to watch some pigskin. Also, a big thanks to John Crossmock for coordinating the raffle. $152 was donated towards the Scholarship fund. It would've been easy to stay at home and watch the game on free TV. Also, 52 boxes of pencils were donated for our school project to help Westside Elementary in their quest for supplies. The more donations we get, the better. More on next week’s school supply item in a little bit.

As expected, the OSU "D" shut down another team with very good season averages for running and passing. MSU came into the game leading the Big Ten in total offense (467.0), scoring offense (36.9) and second in rushing (242.7) and came away with only three points, 59 yards rushing and 185 total yards.

James Laurinaitis showed no ill effects from a hip pointer that he suffered last week against Kent State. The "Little Animal" led the "D" with 12 tackles. Even Doug Worthington contributed with an INT in the second quarter. According to Worthington, it was his first INT in his whole life. Good thing he dropped backed into pass coverage to catch the ball. Maybe Anderson Russell can take some notes on how to catch a ball. Worthington mentioned in the post game locker room that he actually caught a few picks in practice this week. So snagging the pass from MSU QB Brian Hoyer was a piece of cake for him. He's become a quality player on the D-Line.

Also, Cameron Heyward is going to give the coaches a big decision for 2008. He's so talented that if Lawrence Wilson comes back from injury, will he be able to win his spot back? We'll keep our eyes on that issue when the Buckeyes cross that bridge later.

Other than those two miscues, the Buckeyes played well enough to hold onto their #1 ranking this week. Can't say that for teams like South Florida and South Carolina who coughed up their chances of staying in the title picture. LSU got very lucky Saturday night. They look like one of the favorites down the stretch.

Luckybuck's Helmet Sticker Player of the Game: Chris "Beanie" Wells: 31 Carries for 221 yards (both career highs) and TD. It was his 47 yard run from the OSU 7 yard line that got the Buckeyes in the right direction to start the game.

On tap: Happy Valley: Two years ago, it wasn't so happy for the Buckeyes who lost their chance to possibly play in the BCS Title Game when they lost to Penn State. As a matter of fact, the Nittany Lions are the last team to defeat OSU. OSU will be bringing with them a 26 game regular season and 18 game conference winning streak this Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm and will be televised by ABC. Our school supply item this week is pocket folders as we look to "Put away JoePa". Hope to see all of you rabid Bucknuts out at Gills this Saturday as we look forward to another exciting (and hopefully easier) game. Have a great week.

GO BUCKS!!!
