I
hope everyone has a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. This will be my final blog
for the 2009 season. It certainly was an interesting season for the Buckeyes.
They went from the outhouse (losses to USC and Purdue), to the penthouse (winning
their last 5 to secure an outright Big Ten title).
Word has come down this morning that Ray Small has violated a "Team
Rule" and will NOT play in the "Granddaddy of them all". Not
surprisingly, Small has been in Tressel's doghouse all 4 years on campus. This
could be a major blow in terms of field position as Small has the speed and
shiftiness to take a punt back at any given moment.
Now, will the defense be able to stop Jeremiah Massoli and LaMichael James on a
consistent basis? It will be tough, but the "D" sees enough of TP in
practice to know that Massoli is the same type of QB.
What has worked for the Buckeyes in the last 5 games is running the ball behind
the left side of Jim Cordle and Justin Boren for an average of 228 yds per game.
I have to believe that the seniors want to leave on a high note and that will
be the case.
