a.      Fund Raiser – Strategy: Design tee-shirts and sell at the Football events – Carolyn Able and Kath Smith will have logos to vote on at the next meeting of the board

b.      Annual Meeting – Date Discussed:  Fall: 2nd or 3rd week in October, by week after the Penn State game – Provost mentioned as a possible speaker

 

Committee Reports

 

a.      Student Recruitment and Scholarship – John Hutson -- No freshman scholarship candidates presented 2008-2009 school year

b.      Community Outreach – Lori Crossmock -- West Side Elementary School – Strategy: School Supplies and Uniforms to be obtained from member donors; successful in the past

c.       Fund Raising – Strategy: Appoint Committee members

 

Student Send-Off

 

            5 Memphis/Shelby County students to OSU this fall – Date of Send-Off Event TBA

 

Communication

 

a.      Mailing – Overview of the Fall Events to be sent in August                                             

b.      E-Mail – Monthly – Information that is needed by the membership

c.       Website --  Post Overview of Fall Events and Monthly e-mail content

 

New Items

 

a.      Tressel Football – Further communication required – 3 Eddie George minihelmets  available

b.      Raffle – Strategy: Prizes will be obtained as members are available to pick-up in Columbus or order on-line – $350 was approved to purchase raffle items for the upcoming season -- Door prizes for the Bowl game was discussed --

c.       Football Game – Available tickets discussed

d.      Recruit New Members – Strategy: Each person on the e-mail list and attending games will be encouraged to recruit one new member

e.       Awards -- Discussed

f.        Alumni Leaders Conference – Announcement: September 19, 2008, club will pay registration
